There was no problems before I took apart the engine.
There are no cracks around it and it is flat. It does not appear as though the block was decked because the stamped numbers are still very readable. Wouldn't that be obvious? Maybe it was decked, how else could they get a true flat surface?
What do you think? Should I be concerned?
no, it is not raised or lower. I checked it with a strait edge and feeler gauge. It was ok before the tear down. I will probably just go with a good composition gasket. I have another short block but it needs a rebuild, better start saving $!
