Looking for suggestions on which head gasket to use. My heads have been milled but the block deck on right side is a bit warped. I could slide .004 in feeler gage under my strait edge between the #2 and #4 cylinders. The D. Visard book says it is risky to use a shim style if warpage is .003 or more. He recomends composite type.
My questions are: would a rubber coated shim (Fel Pro#1094) seal in my situation?
Also will GM thin composite (#10105117) seal ok?
The composit gaskets will work fine. Any of them will do, but I prefer Felpro or ROL. Shim gaskets also call for a particular RA, which most shops will not finish a machined surface for unless you tell them you are going to run a shim gasket.

Interested in definition and issues relating to use of shim head gaskets... I have milled heads and shot blasted (unmilled) cylinder decks. Are these surfaces OK for shims?
Are V.R. 5746 head gaskets ok for modified engines?
I have Dart SS heads, XE262-10 cam with 1.6 roller rockers.
If that is the correct thickness for what you are looking for then yes. This is what I plan to use on my modifed engine; the fact that its modded doesn't matter.
ok thanks, good advise.
I will probably go with mr gasket ultra-seal .028 compressed and a bore of 4.130. I cannot seem to find a performance gasket with a 4 in bore. Why is that? Is it ok to go with such an oversize?

The Victor 5746 has a bore size of 4.100 and that is correct for a 4.030 bore. 4.130 is pretty close to that. Usually the gasket specifies the correct bore size it was designed for.
