Default TH 400 question

Hi

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust my automatic, so it shifts earlier.
When i kick it, the car goes up to 5500 before it up-shifts. and it feels like my engine is performing better at lower rpm.

On my engine the maximum torque is at 2800rpm, and max HP is at 4400rpm. (stock BB)

So i would like it to upshift between 4500-5000rpm, when i use the kick- down (tink it will bee good for the old not rebuilded engine to not see the max rpm too. So it will be a win win situation.)

Kay

Shift kit should help a lot, maybe a valve body too. Look around and see if you can't find one that is close to your goal.

You dont need a shift kit. The governer needs some changes. Jegs sells a B&M kit with weights and springs that will do what you want Its easy to do but their is some trial and error involved so it takes some time if you dont get it right at first.
