Well it is done...I finally took the body off the frame this weekend. Everything went well and I had only forgotten 2 hoses. I didn't spend much time on it so thats all I did. Will start removing the condensor/radiator next weekend and maybe even get the engine on a stand. So anyway...here's the picture. Oh and thats all the tools you'd need. I'm quite fortunate to have that machinery and space at hand. That rack to lift the body was custom made to hook on the side rails...it'll let me test the body to fit when I put it back on.
I don't understand your question but I'll do my best to answer it. The bracket of the lifting frame that hooks underneath the car is quite large so it doesn't tilt back and forth too much....I had to put a bit of pressure on the front end cause it was heavier in the back. As for it rotating, it was our intention....like you can see the body is facing the opposite of the frame...so we did a 180 while removing it. We wanted to do it this way so we can position the body easily (no need to be at the perfect angle with the tractor(sp?)) I hope it answers your question.
Yeah tell me about it...I was so nervous when we pulled it up. BTW glad to see you back Steve...I still didn't call pacific for the hood. I'm just low on cash as of late (in computers too)
Well I'd have a hard time telling you what I have to run 9s....cause it was modified like that when I bought it. I can say it has a torker 2 intake with the stock Q-jet, stock heads. true dual exhaust with headers. And I presume it has a cam since the idle was lumpy. Oh and when I ran those time, it was w/o air filter...which helped a lot IMO.
As for the plans, you could say it'll be a Merlin #2. :D Same body style except mine will stay t-top. Same suspension. Aiming for a 600-700hp 540ci engine n/a that will fit under the twin turbo hood.
Is that backhoe a Case 580C or 580K? I have a 1981 model 580C. It's almost impossible to imagine living without it. I use it all the time for all sorts of different jobs. I used it to put the body back on my 81' as a matter of fact.
