Default 327 to 383

I have an opportunity to purchase a 383 which has never been used for $900.00. (Does Not Include Heads) If it is a good deal which heads would be a good reliable street fit. I want something dependable and relatively easy to maintain. Is this possible?

World Products Sportsman II iron heads, if you have flat top or dished pistons. If you have high compression pistons, you might want to consider going to aluminum heads. Someone else should be able to recommend a good aluminum head based on their experiences.

Trick Flows are REALLY cheap aluminum heads. My friends dad has them on his 88' Ford Stang that runs 7's. And he didn't have any complaints. I'm sure the Chevy ones will be just as nice. I've seen them for 899$ before.

You could use the heads off of your 327. All heads are very reliable if you never put them on a motor. We are in the digital era. So it's time to forget about old heads and get Vortec or fast burn technology.

the problem with Vortecs is you have to have a different intake. you can't just bolt any intake up there. Though Vortecs are good, with some reading and hours with a carbide cutter. You can do some really impressive things with the stock iron heads. Go pick up a book called "how to get max. performance from you SBC on a budjet" By a guy named Wizard. It's a REALLY good book. It will teach you alot.
