I have the original compressor which is not installed on the car and am wondering if there were
multiple suppliers or one? I think mine is made by Frigidaire and am wondering what paint I would use
to restore it to original appearance? I've seen them on other cars and they appear to be close to
the Krylon semi-flat black. Can an AC outfit verify if the compressor is any good without it being
installed on a car? Also, what color/finish was on the brackets? Thanks for the responses! :flag
All the GM compressors were made by Frigidaire, model A-6, for the '69's. If it's original and hasn't been in use, it will certainly need a front seal and probably a bearing in the pulley. These are great compressors and easily rebuilt. It does take special tools to do the seal. The were semi-gloss black, and the repro stickers are available from all the vendors.
