Headlight door problems
I have a 1980 L82. I have fixed many things on both headlights including replacing the cracked boots on each light. I have made a huge improvement on the way they work but I still have 1 problem. When I pull my lights on the driver side light goes up fairly quick but the passenger side takes along time to go up. They both lock into place and don't move. When I shut the lights off the passenger side drops pretty quick and the driver side is just a bit slower. My question is, what exactly does the headlight & wiper door vacuum actuator relay's do? Could one of these be going bad? I have checked as well as I can for vacuum leaks and can't find any. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Mark from Kansas.

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be small leaks everywhere. I took out my canister and found small leaks in it and sealed it. I replaced my relays. and some of the hoses. Both sides now move about the same. I think when one door moves faster than the other then it is an indication of a vacuum leak. I would start with the relays- do a search on headlamp relays- somewhere in here is a process to determine if they are bad.
