I am re-doing the interior and want to re-paint the console. Would Krylon simi flat black be the right paint? I also want to redo the rally caps and sill plates. Does anyone know the right paint for this? I do not want the paint to peel off in a week because I didn't get the right product. :mad So if anyone has already tried this, can you please let me know how it worked out. :D
I used Krylon semi-flat black on my console plate, gauge cluster, and speedo and tach bezels. I think they came out nice, and everything still looks good after two years.
I'm in the Krylon camp, too. Used it to re-do my interior. Pics on my site.
There is a great product you can get from Eastwood called "pre" -- it's designed to get all the armor-all gunk off stuff before you paint it. It's a MUST have when re-doing these old pieces, takes all the CRAP off and gives you a nice, clean, dry surface to paint. No amount of soap and water will get that stuff out, and you'll end up with orange peel...
Bobbydene -- Krylon semi-flat black will be a near perfect match for almost all the semi-flat black surfaces of a Corvette, including rally wheel caps and P01/P02 wheel covers. The aftermarket providers offer it, but it's cheaper off the shelf at Wal-Mart and other discount houses.
