Default NOX Question

I have a .060 over 350 cid engine, mild cam, Q-Jet, 2101 manifold, and headers. The eng has a cast crank and stock cast(speed pro)pistons, stock rods. The cam is a speed pro cs-1013R .442/.465 288*/298*. The heads are stock iron humps@ 64cc I'm unsure of the compression.
Now the question is...What kind of nitrous set-up would you recommend for me? I will hardly ever get it to the track but I want a little kick in the pants action from time to time!!! I got a couple hundred bucks laying around that I saved to treat myself to something...It may as will be for this!
Thanks,

Many would say depends on your CR most of all. Might want to also consider some type of auto timing retard.

Cast crank + Cast pistons + Stock Rods + nitrous = blown engine. Might get by with a 100 HP shot for occasional short duration bursts but be really careful and run it rich on fuel.

You can run a 100 shot no problem. The vast majority of guys who give negitive nitrous advise have never run it.

A small plate system or a Top Shot would work great on your motor. Make sure to follow the guidlines that come with the kit as far as fuel and timing goes and you will be fine. I would keep it to a 100 shot though.

I get all my nitrous stuff from Nitrous Supply. It is run by Mike Thermos (founder of NOS) they have great prices and tech support.

For the record I put over 500 lbs. of nitrous through my 454 in the last 1.5 years..up to a 400 shot and have never even nipped a plug.

Default hmmm

If it were me I would go with something a little smaller than 100 maybe a 50-75 shot, My dad has a 68 camaro SS427, Its a little beefed but nothing major, heads ported little bigger cam. He ran a 100 shot NOS plat system, first time using it with stock crank rods and pistons, he bent the crank. So he went with a forged steel crank kept the 100 shot and has ran plenty of NOS with no problems. So I would say go for it, but take it easy.

At what rpm did he engage the nitrous ?? I had a cast crank in my 454 and sprayed it up to 175 hp and spun it to 7000 rpms many times.

You ought to be at 3500 rpms or above to engage nitrous.

Like I said, A 100 shot if your real careful for short bursts. Better be dialed in right. Cast pistons don't like nitrous. There are guys that run a 150 on stock motors but be prepared to build a new one. If the motor is built for nitrous you can run as big of shot as you build for. You never, ever want to run lean.

What are the different ways you can activate the NOX system. Considering how I want to use it. Would a micro switch at WOT be the best for me??? Like I said I want to show off once in a while!!!

I went to the Nitrous supply site and only became more confused!!!
What is a Sniper system? Or powershot/ Difference between 1 stage and 2 stage and what is the diff. between a wet system and a dry system??
I know I am asking a lot but could some one make a suggestion for my application. As was stated earlier I want the occasional kick in the pants to have some fun and show off! and I guess I will stay with a 50 to 75 shot as recommended!

Picture shows square bore, description says Q-jet, the picture is probably not the exact kit they're recommending, call them.

For an activation switch you can use a TH400 kickdown switch which mounts under the gas pedal wired in series with a manual "On" "Off" switch.

Most stock cast pistons are dished. Do you have aftermarket flat top pistons. If not, you probably are not at 10.3:1 with the dished pistons.
