Default Door Lock Problem

well my vette strikes again. i locked the door and later when i went to unlock it it wouldnt unlock.so i got in thru the passanger side and tried pulling the door **** and it wouldnt unlock. i finally got it open and took the door panel off. and disconnected the door **** and the rod works fine. but where the door key lock goes in dosent want to move. do i need a new one??? or can i fix it somehow

The same thing happend to my 79. Mine started just like that. I think it is where the bar connects to the lock cylinder. Now mine just spins you can actually pull the lock part way out of the door. I can't get my hand in the access panal to get to it. I am actually bringing it to a shop this week to get fixed. I am sure you can fix it yourself, I usually end up mad and start throwing tool around.

What you need to do is disconnect the lock rods and remove the door latch and clean the 28 years worth of crud/gunk/muck off off and out of everything. Then grease it all up and reassemble.

Make sure the small clips that hold the rod ends on have not come off or broken.
