Would like to get a knowledgeable answer to my question- would this cruise control transducer fit my '81? It says it will in the description, but I can't fully trust it... so why not come to you guys for all the answers

That's just got the resume solenoid bolted on to it. If you don't have the resume function just remove the resume solenoid. As a matter of fact, the 81, as far I am aware DID have resume.
Well, I do know that the resume function was a kind of "bolt on" affair, meaning that the actual transducer should still have the same internals. The only external differences between a resume/non-resume transducers are the screw bosses in the casting, for the resume solenoid bracket.
So the question is, will this ebay one FIT in the vette? Hard to tell from your pics, possibly not.
But surgn, if your 81 already has a (busted) transducer fitted, can you not pull the resume solenoid off it and fit it to this ebay one? Either that or find a way to remotely mount the solenoid...
It's not a bad price for a rebuilt transducer (at the moment, until Ebay auction fever strikes!), so could be worth getting it and working round the solenoid issue. Depends on your desire for originality!
If it can be done- for the price, it's a heck of a lot better than paying $90 for a rebuilt transducer from a parts store.
I don't plan on using the cruise control anyways.... I just need it b/c my speedometer isn't working- that being the case... then would this one work? Thanks again guys.
I see no reason why not - you'll effectively just be using the transducer as a gearbox between the upper and lower speedo cables.
But since you'll have a rebuilt transducer anyway, it's probably not too troublesome to go the extra bit and get the system working. I think it's quite a cool little toy - it's basically a mechanical version of a thing that is always just dealt with by a computer these days, which I think makes it a pretty neat! But maybe that's just me
