When using the power bleeder and installing a new master cylinder do i have to bench bleed the master first?
It is definitely best to do that. Otherwise, you'll have to push any bubbles in the M/C all the way through the system - you want to minimize having to do that.

i guess you don't have to but like pws69 said the idea is to push only fluid through the system not air or it will just make your job that much harder. i would definitely do it
bench bled it first, go to NAPA or AutoZone etc and get 2 of the metric conversion lines- they fit the port sizes. Cut the end off the non used side and curl them into the M/C sections to bleed. Works great and won't leak at the cylinder connection. Use a c clamp with the motive and lose the J clamps they come with. Pump it up to about 10 psi and see if the gauge goes down- if so you have a leak to find.
