How much clutch do I really need?

I have a 72 with a 4 speed. I'm putting a 383 in shortly that will be about 420hp and 460 ft.lbs. I've talked to a few guys and some say 'You better get a serious clutch for that thing'. And other guys say I'd be just fine with a stock clutch. I don't plan on drag racing or taking it to the track. Perhaps an occasional auto-cross but not likely. It's mainly a cruiser/hot rod. So how much clutch do I really need? Is a centerforce DF overkill? I'd like to keep a somewhat soft pedal too.

The stock clutch will not hold up to long. The CF dual friction is what I have and might be slight overkill but you will never have to worry about it.

The dual friction is not overkill for anything, thats why its half the price of any other "high performance" clutch you will look at :P

It will give you a lighter then stock pedal and decent grip though
