Gas Tank Problems? HELP!
However, the idle seemed rich so I changed metering rods (following the Edelbrock charts). It seemed to be a step in the right direction. The next step was to replace the primary jets with ones .002 sizes smaller. This was done, and the car seemed OK, except that it was uneven in "off idle" mode. Fine. Went back up on the metering rods. No change. Still felt uneven;
While idling, the motor had just quit-like running out of gas. After getting it going, I checked the fuel pressure gauge-3 lbs! I adjusted the regulator for the electric pump-wouldn't respond! I replaced the gauge with a new spare-no difference! Next, I replaced the electric fuel pump with the new Holley 'blue' that I had taken off because of noisy operation. There was NO gas coming out of the fuel line! Empty tank! What a moron! The gauge said 1/2 a tank. Must be a faulty sending unit;
I sent a guy to the gas station for $5 worth of gas, and proceeded to blow out the fuel lines with compressed air. I installed the pump, hooked up the lines, put in the gas and fired it up. No problem, it started and ran smooth as silk! After adjusting the idle, I got in and started for the gas station- it DIED, just like the other times! No fuel pressure! Pump sounded funny, too; Got it running and got gas; It took 10 gallons and kicked off-- tank was full! The sending unit WAS OK!
Does ANYBODY have any idea what gives here???????? HELP!!!!!! Could it be the tank bladder?
:crazy: :chevy :crazy:
i think only 75-77 had bladders
i know 76 for sure cuase thats what i have...
usually when the bladder collapses it gives you fill problems ..not being able to fill it all the way up..
the inlet has a big "sock" screen thingie on it so i seriously doubt that the bladder wouldbe getting in the way of the inlet if thats what yer thinking.
perhaps that line is plugged up in the sending unit?? thats possible....or that little sock thingie....
