Default Making a removeable cross member

I'll be modifying my 4-speed cross member soon to allow it to be removeable. Those that have done this or have pics of this please post those solutions. I've seen yours Norval, with the cutout sections for larger exhaust....very nice. Has anyone made theirs out of round or oval tubing?

I happen to have an extra 81 x-member with the frame brackets. If interested and they will work I can cut the x-member ends off and send those with the frame bracket pieces for the cost of shipping them. I won't be needing them.

Hey T,
I believe 427Hotrod has some pics of his. I plan to re-work mine when time permits to a similar setup. I think it's much stronger than what I have.

Patrick,
What is your setup?

Joe,
I already have an automatic cross member but I need the bracket that the cross member bolts through. Could you send that? My shipping ZIP is 77469. Let me know how much and I can PayPal you.

I might still end up just cutting mine and doing what most others have done with 2 plates bolted and welded but I'd like to have both options available when I get under there.
Thanks!

Found these on my computer...not sure who's car it is....has a file name similar to pics of Felix's car (Megaladon).
Looks pretty darn solid. Looks like something TT could have doctored up though. Its hard to make out what type of trans it is, but its sweet.

I was going to fabricate something removable for my 4spd but decided to wait until I upgrade to a 6spd trans and make something like pictured above.

this is mine, the cetner is removable. IT's made out of rect tubing that fits tightly between the original ears where the stock one bolted in.

Guys,
Tshort was first to request the x-member frame rail brackets. I have to honor that request. I don't do pay pal.(sorry). Please PM with your address and I'll send the rail brackets. Once recieved if you want to keep them send me a money order for shipping costs. OK?

Here is a picture of mine, made about 10 years ago. I cut the center of original cross member out. We cut a piece of 4x4 box tubing down the middle and it fits snuggly over the left over cross member. Then I drilled four holes through both and bolt it up.

Easy to remove and very easy to make different trans brackets.

Not to pretty but I had to do no welding under the car. Jeff
