Default Electronic tach not reading right

I dropped a Ramjet 350 engine in my 69 and had an electronic tach built to replace my original tach. When i turn the key on the electric tach already reads 300 RPM's. (engine not running)

At idle the tach on my timing light reads 670 RPM's, but the tach in the car reads 1000

What can be done? Do i need to send it back to the person that did the conversion? Damn i hate to rip the dash back out

Sounds like the needle needs to be set back 300 RPM.

So just simply grab the needle and turn it back?

NO. You must gently pull it off, and push it back on in the correct position.
