Default Motor's gotta go

Time has come to freshen up the old L-82. I've pulled a few out in my day, but never from a vette. I plan on doing this in my garage once the weather breaks, and would love to know what you've used to get the chassis up and supported safely while crawling under to disconnect stuff. Since this is coupled to a TH350, what's easier, to unbolt it and leave it behind or pull it out with the motor?
Btw, I'll be snapping pics along the way, so this should be entertainig...

Use jack stands & a ramp to elavate the car, make sure it solid. Here's the first day right before I started taking everything apart. I have a jack under the differential and two jack stands on the side.

To remove the engine, lower the vette and I removed the left front wheel & tire. I remember lowering the jack on that side to its lowest point to make it easier for the engine to clear the fender. I pulled my 350, leaving the tranny behind and pulling it separate. At this point the radiator and support are still installed. I have a piece of plywood shielding the aluminum radiator & electric fans.

Here's a shot right before I yank it out:

Here's my wife assisting on that wonderful day. Doesn't she look pleased? She couldn't wait to get started, she thinks I'm a Bozo. Engine & tranny going in together. Notice I removed the radiator & support for the install.

Thanks Jughead,
Wondering if its easier yanking the trans in the first place? The TH350 does not have to be rebuilt, just replace the torque converter and cleaned up a bit. I have dual spals. Pulling the radiator is no big deal.

I have done a few Vettes with autos and always left thetrans in. Just unbolt the converter bolts and then the bellhousing to motor bolts and the yseperate pretty easy. Support the trans while seperating the two and it should come right out. I will even leave the hood on and have left the radiator in. Not suggested if this is your first removal. There is not a lot of room when leaving all that in. On my car which is a stick I always pull thetrnas off first then pull the motor and bell assembly out as one. That way I do not have to tilt the motor. It comes out very easy.

I use steel wheel ramps, one for each wheel, then use a floor jack to get it up to height. Don't have any pictures though.

Roughly, how high off the floor is workable to unbolt the stuff that has to come down and away?
