68 vs 69 E-Brake console

68 vs 69 E-Brake console
Knowing that the 68 e-brake console is unique, is the reason solely due to the receptacles for the seat belt latch or is there something else? I've received a `68 correct console with the receptacles which in my situation are not needed but I prefer the cleaner look of later consoles. Do later year models share the same mounting points, etc?

I believe they are interchangeable. Mine is a very late production '68 (built Aug '68) and has the later version e brake console with no receptacles. I was told that it had not been replaced and was original (it does look it and has aged same as rest of interior).

Mine is an original with the buckle pockets and I used it to replace a banged up '69 or later unit which was in the car when I got her. With the exception of the buckle pockets and possibly the graining pattern, there probably isn't much difference among the model years.

Beware that the reproductions (Both Corvette America and ECProducts) for 1970 consoles are absolute CRAP. I returned them both and have my cracked original back in there instead. I tried in vain to find a decent condition used one at Carlisle this year. :( I may have to reattempt my original repair as it didn't hold up well once I bolted the metal underside stuff to it. :(
