I have a '79 Coupe that "needs some work" and I am joining a club which has monthly "shop nights" with access to lifts, etc. But any job has to be completed in 2 - 3 hours.
Can someone give me an idea how long it might take to install motor mounts?
What kinds of suspension tasks could I undertake within those limits??
Motor mounts in 2-3 hours is a can do, rear spring replacement can probably be done, trailing arm rebuild or replace, probably not, A -arm bushings and or ball hoints, again probably not, brake caliper replacement and brake bleeding probably. But don't expect to be able to pull calipers, disassemble, rebuild, reinstall and bleed in that amount of time. If all of the tools are available, and you know how to use them, you can tackle a lot of things in 2- 3 hours, but if you have to be out of the way, and drive it home, be sure that you know what each task entails before starting. Pre soak nuts and bolts with power blaster so they will be easier to use, and make sure you have all of the parts necessary for the job. Anticipate broken bolts, stripped threads, etc. and have a plan of action (replacement bolts, helicoil kit, etc). Good luck, and welcome to the madness.
I am joining the original Corvette Club of America that meets in Gaithersburg, MD. In part because of those monthly shop nights at the sponsoring Chevy dealer. -- But I am also looking at NVCC where "the car" was previously a member. 8-)
I am a member of the Old Dominion Corvette Club. Its the club that formed in Loudoun County. I dont know if you've looked into it at all. Just a little closer. We dont have shop nights setup yet, but we do have a few members that have lifts and a group of people willing to help. http://www.olddominioncorvetteclub.org
Matt, Thanks for the link! Perhaps I'll try a meeting. Sterling is closer than Gaithersburg or Tysons Corners. -- And if I join I'll make sure you get the enlistment credit!!

That is all very helpfull. Thanks.
The motor mounts are needed ASAP.
Looks like you and I are of the same "vintage", and I am getting too old for shade-trees, garage floors and creepers!
