Default Need side exhaust recommendations

I'm considering putting side headers and pipes on my 73 SB 350.

What recommendations do you have as far as the brand and the finish on the headers? I'm not to concerned about how it sounds, as long as it's loud and legal.

PS-I have square ports, if it matters.

Thanks!

I installed about two weeks ago a set of Jet Hot hookers that have the ceramic coating type finish.

The under hood and floorboard heat was greatly reduced,,in fact I was amazed as to the reduction of cabin heat in the car.

The max flo mufflers sound great outside the car,,but inside the car I cant talk to a passenger or talk on the cell or listen to the radio. After you get up to about 110 mph or so the sound is unberable.

I lost power with the max flo's and got worse gas mileage,,,they are too big for a 350 I have since found out, and now I have a set of reverse flo's ordered. A big block is good for the max's so I have been informed by Hooker and sweet thunder.

The max's flo's I think made my engine run a tad hotter,,,I would venture to guess that they pump more air and the fuel mixture is leaner. They also flo the fuel right out the pipe causing less power. With the reverse flo's I will have more back pressure for the engine.

I verified my experience with Hooker Tec gru rus and they agree with my situation,,,,they assured me the reverse flows will not be as loud but I will still have some engine rumble. I will se when the mufflers get here.

I just installed new jet hot header/sidepipes when I did the 2004r
trans upgrade. They are very loud open have the spiral mufflers ordered they just havent arrived yet. Cant wait to break in all the new parts. Installed a 7 qt oil pan while I was under there along with new ujoints
on the drive shaft. With the crossmember and exhaust system removed and the lighter parts that went back on I dropped a bunch of weight off the car. Like how the new headers/sidepipes went on easy to take on and off and made a bunch of elbow room under the car.

So what did you do with your max flows? I tried to give you my glass packs for them. I ran my glass packs on my stock 350 and they ran great. I was even willing to buy the max flows from you, did you get my PM?
I think you are going to be severly disappointed with the reverse flows, they sound like all the rice burners running around with the cat backs systems. They have better given you a money back garauntee with those or you will be upset, my own opinion. Maybe we just have different tastes but I think the sound no better then the new 5.0L Mustangs you buy straight off the lot.

I got your pm,,,,its that the reverse flows are on back order for a month, so I need something until then. You may be right about the change but I got to try something, the max flows are too much inside the car.
