Default Testing gauges

Ok...Here's my problem.

I have the gauge cluster pulled out of my '74 C3, and we're trying to determine if the gauges are good.

I cannot fire up the car right now and test it; most of the electrical system wiring has been pulled and is in the process of being re-wrapped and/or replaced due to burnt wires that we found.

Because of the condition of these wires, we're unsure if the gauges are even working or not, and we don't have any way to connect it back up to the car.

Anyone know how I can test the gauges out of the car, with say, a multimeter, or 9V battery/resistor or something like that?

Search for BarryK. He has multiple helpful articles posted and one specifically addresses what you are after (testing gauges)
