Can anyone recommend a quiet(er) muffler that doesn't stuff up the exhaust flow? I have Flowmaster 40s on my BB and they **** my neighbors off when I start the car for work at 5:30, and attracting too much attention elsewhere........
Right now exhaust is just dumping about 24" off the header, under the car. No piping to the rear of the car.
I had 40 series on my C4. LOUD. I switched them to Walker Dynomax and was very happy. The Dynomax mufflers fow well, dont resonate and have a nice tone.
Just placing the mufflers you have in the stock location will help tremendously. Any muffler that has packing inside will be short lived where you have them mounted.
Just within the last 3 weeks, I've converted from chambered duals to duals with x-pipe and Dynomax Super Turbos. The new config has a fairly decent rumble but quiet. The only problem so far is that I now hear sqeaks and chirps inside the cabin while cruising. The previous chambered exhaust drowned out these noises.
I have Dynomax Super Turbos also and like them very much. The only loud mufflers I like are the ones on someone elses car! These are very nice, slightly louder than stock but very nice going down the road.

Dynomax Super Turbos on MAD true duals here. Pretty darn quiet unless you put your foot in it. At the same time they are not HP robbers so you get the best of both worlds.
Great unless you want to make a lot of noise all the time

You need to get those babys to the back...........
The Flo-Pros I have are the questest I've heard but still have a deep throaty rumble and an "attitude" when you open it up. http://www.flopro.com/FloPro.htm

Flowmasters are restrictive. Be glad you have finally seen the light. Whatever muffler you get, make sure you put and H- or X-pipe somewhere in the system (preferably an X) as close to the collectors as you can get it.
I'm kind of partial to the X-pipe/Dynomax UltraFlo combo. It really works nicely for my ears and let's the big-block breathe too.
