I'm thinkin' the OP gage is mechanical, and the spark plug heatshields mount to the block with a 1/4x20 bolt right between the plugs on the block.

Oh brother

since you are a fellow 68er Let me help you out if I may

you dont have a condensor (read oil pressure sending unit) if you have a 68, you have a mechanical oil pressure guage with a line fitting on the back of the block near the distributor, and a plastic line that runs from there through the fire wall to the gauge cluster.

I am not sure what you have going to your temp sending unit, or if you just have some other late model guage set up, but if you car is stock or close to it, oil pressure is read from actual pressure vs an electrical signal

second, the shielding hasmultiple parts if you have all of it, there is the part that goes to the block as stated above, but there is also the part of the shielding that mounts on tabs on the exhaust manifolds with those big stainless wing nuts, and a separate part of the ignition shielding that runs down under neath the manifolds mounting to the bosses on the block, but i am not sure if which part you are refering to

Cheers

Default oil pressuer condenser

THANKS, TIM YES I HAVE A MECH. GUAGE, I AM AWARE OF THE PRESSUER LINE TO THE GUAGE . I HAVE A CONDENSER MOUNTED ON THE BACK NEAR THE GUAGE WITH A SPADE CONNECTOR ON IT , I PROBABLY LABELED IT WRONG WHEN I TOOK IT APART, IS IT POSSIBLE THAT IT CONNECTS TO THE TEMP. GUAGE , I ALREADY CONNECTED THAT.
I AM STILL CONFESED ON THE HEAT SHIELD FOR THE PLUG WIRES, IT DOES GO ON THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK AND I AM MISSING THE PARTS THAT CONNECT FROM THE TOPSIDE .

THANKS FOR THE REPLY I WILL KEEP TRYING .
THANKS, RICH

PS. IT IS STOCK

Ohhhhhhh I see what you are talking about now,

that is not a condensor like under the distribuitor, thhat is a capacitor for noise suppresion from the radio. and it can mount anywhere on the back of the cluster. If yiou didnt know, the cluster itself is part of the grounding mechanism in the car ( just leavr it loose and try to work the wipers if you dont beleive me )

put it back where it was or close by the temp or ammeter it doesnt matter which. Those noise suppression capaitors are all over the car it seems

OK for the ignition shielding

for these pieces

it mounts to the block

for these pieces ( 4 each)

the mount to tabs on the exhaust manifolds

cheers
