I'm thinking I'm going with the 383 A-3 and was gonna give them a call later in the week. But I wanted to know which of you have T&L motors? They've been mentioned alot in some threads, but no specific T&L thread.
Can you tell me about your experience? Your set-up? Pics? They just sound way too good to be true.

T&L built my 383 in 05/2005. When I was shopping for motors I did a net search and found them on ebay, thought it was too good to be true. So I called and spoke to Lloyd McLeary the owner, the next day my son and I drove 4 hours to tour the facility near Charlotte, N.C. Lloyd gave us an hour long tour and answered every question we asked. Top notch facility and professionally operated. And to top it off we were able to go watch the engine dynoed.
I could not have built the motor myself for what he charged using the same exact parts and I knew I could not match his skills and machine work. After the tour it was a "no brainer decision" and I still feel that way today 2 years later.
If you contact Lloyd, tell him Larry C. recommended T & L.
He are a couple of pics and link to my engine being dynoed.
I have a T&L 408. They are really good people to deal with. As was said above, you couldn't build the same for the money. When you walk in thier parts room and see about a hundred dart alum heads, a hundred cams, shelves full of pistons, roller rockers, etc. you kinda get the idea that they probably get volume discounts. I bought the whole package including carb, distributor, march serp setup, etc. If I was buying today I wouldn't even shop I would just call them again.
Definitely a great website, especially if you go to their shop tour. I'm just shocked with the precision they use, and then to package a 450HP motor with top of the line parts for under $4K is nuts!
Will they dyno tune? I was going to stick with my original Q-jet.
Foxy--I just ordered my TandL 383 A2 yesterday. I so far things are progressing very smoothly. Once my deposit clears they are supposed to contact me about options and what not. I spoke to someone(George/Lloyd?) a couple of weeks ago when I was trying to narrow down which engine to buy from them. They suggested I stick with the A2 and not the A3. Apparently the A3 wouldn't make enough vacuum. Anyway I should have the motor in 6-8 weeks. I'll keep everyone posted with the progress. There has been a lot of interest in TandL here lately and based on other members comment and their help prior to the sale I chose them.

PS- Yes they dyno tune. I'm buying a carb from them and when it's closer to dyno time I will send them my distributor and they'll pop that on and tune it all for me all at once. That's a great deal if you ask me.

Reason: addition of PS

Thanks, added to my favorites for when I do this later in the project stages.
One thing I really like about them is they don't have a "dyno setup" that they run your engine with and then dissasemble. They will ask that you send them everything from the distributor, carb, plug wires, and even the belts that you are going to run and they dyno your
complete assembly.

What do you all need to buy to make the engine complete and ready to drop in?
