Free flow cats
I live in California and want to install a free flow catalytic converter on my '82 vette. Has anyone installed one and what are the horsepower gains? Also, what are the legal issues with installing these cats? Thanks in advance.

I had American Muffler in Costa Mesa weld up a new cat in my 81. Super guy, been there for years and years. What a huge differerence. Totally smog legal, .01 C0 at 15 and 25 at the check only station. Really increased the noise level though, the 81 vettes have a crummy ceramic kitty litter stock converter. My mechanic used to tell me to use a sludge hammer on the outside to break up the beads and then drive it hard and I would pass no problem, kind of got sick of that and sometimes it would not work.
