Power Steering Rebuild
Does anyone have any experience with these kits? How difficult would this be to install in a driveway with the car on ramps, using hand tools? Are there special tools or adjustments required?
Pay yer money, take yer chances.
The parts that wear the most (re-used) are not available separately.... the housing half and the internal sliding sleeve.

My advice would be to buy new, not rebuilt. VBP also offers brand new valves and cylinders. The price difference is well worth the aggravation and time you will save if you have to do it over. Lot less likely to get a defective one if you buy a new unit.
If budget is a problem you might consider rebuilding the valve yourself if the internals look ok. Rebuild kits are not expensive, but if your valve looks is shot, then I would just bite the bullet and buy a new one.
There are a couple of special tools you need - a ball joint separator to get the control valve off and maybe a pickle fork for the other stuff. Do a thread search. There is a lot of excellent info on this forum on power steering. Good luck.
