Default Comp Cams Polymer Distributor Gear

For those of you who have used the Comp Cams Polymer Distributor Gear on true BILLET cams:

1. Please share what your experience has been with it…..good, bad or otherwise.

2. If you have had a problem with it, what specifically, happened to it?

3. Based on your experience with it, if you had it to do over again, would you still use it, or would you go with the bronze gear?

This is what I used. It's been OK for about a year now.

I own three Comp Cams Poly gears. The highest mileage one (Probably about 25K) has been on 3-4 cams and a total rebuild. It still looks brand new an it went into my 434 small block.

I used bronze on race motors. Poly is a much better deal. I've also had bronze last a long time, but nothing will last if you don't pay attention to the Dist. installed height.

Doug Herbert sells billet steel roller cams for BBC for about $230 ... for an extra $50 they'll press on an iron cam gear that'll let you run a stock dist gear. Small base circle another $20. Herbert maintains great reputation. Dunno ... maybe the other cam grinders offer similar option.
