Default Anyone know what this is???

I'll just post the pics because I have no clue... The writing is partially rubbed off but I'm pretty sure it says "philips 461294 7089". The black wire went to ground, the blue connector was plugged into the "" slot in the fuse block. As far as I can tell everything works without it but my air conditioner has never worked so it might be involved in the a/c system??? I'd appreciate any advice, thanks.

That is the courtesy light timer. That particular timer is from a 1977 and was tied into the wiring harness just above the speedometer. The black lead is ground, the red one plugs into the fuse panel and the other into the light harness.

Thought it might be the wiring for the Flux capacitor at first. The wiring might have a problem carrying the 1.6 jigiwatts though.

Wow that was quick, I didn't know the '77s had a ctsy light timer. So where exactly do the white/white-and-black wires tie in? I have the entire dash harness unwrapped so I should be able to connect them up in no time, again thanks.

One of the connectors is missing off your white/black stripe wire. You will see the two wires (probably connection together) outside of the taped harness by your speedometer. Pull the connection apart and plug the two ends of your timer into the connections. It looks like your timer got quite a blow to the side of it so it is hard to say whether it works or not.

Ok I know the two wires by the speedometer you are talking about, they are soldered together (someone got to them before I did appearently) so I have two coming in from one side and one from the other. Does it matter which wire I attach to which connection.

Also, if my timer is bad, does anyone know where I can get a replacement???

It won't matter which side goes into which connector. As far as the availability of these timers, they are a one year item only and new ones are getting pretty rare. I have seen them on ebay a couple times. If you have a Corvette junk yard close by you might luck out. But give yours a try first, it might still be working.

Thanks a lot Binnie, couldn't have done it without you. I checked ebay and they have one NOS but the guy wants $150 for it. I'll hook it up today to see if it works, you're a lifesaver man.
