Well I finally got this thing onto my lift. Last night removed all of the body bolts with no sweat !!!
ALL the fastners were clean, and rust free. I heard some horror stories of people having to chisel them out.
All the suspension seen here is powered-coated....We decided to go one step further, and coat the chassis as well. While the body is off...we will have the underbody painted as well.

Nice work so far. I am guessing that by the title of this thread you are going with a LS6 motor. Nice choice. This is the same thing I want to do with mine. I have been looking for an LS motor but have not had too much luck in finding one for what I want to pay, yet.
Okay, just a side note, this past weekend I saw a Z067 that was so sweet. Very nice 67 with the LS6 motor. It also had the ABS connected and working. Very clean install and made me want to pull this off ASAP. I loved it. Keep the pics coming. Bigger the better for me.

That should be even better. Probably harder but with that kind of power it will be a blast. I think I am going to go with the LS6 just for the ease of acquisition.
Here are a couple shots of the chassis and the lift....The 2x4 tubing with the chain wrapped around it is just a temporary deal...It will have a conveyor type set-up with a hook.
Looking good. I know exactly what you're going through with this project. (Though I did the body-off resto ~5 years before the LSx swap.) It'll be great when it's done. One question: Which 5-speed are you using and why are you going that way instead of a built T56 6-speed?
