KenSny is correct -- there were no factory L-48 emblems. The current aftermarket offerings are an attempt to add a little pizzazz to an L-48. I've seen a few pair installed and they look good.
:)
Rick,
Ken is right. None of the L48 Corvettes came with the hood emblems. My first Vette was a '79 L48. After painting it, I attached the L48 emblems in the same location as the L82 emblems. My AIM had a page with the measurements.
What year is your Corvette? Maybe someone on the forum with the same year (and L82) can help you with the measurements.
Maybe JRChurch made a typo and he meant to say his AIM does "not" give the measurement. Mine does for '75. I first read it that it did give the measurement that's why I answered "per the AIM".
Well, you can do anything you want, since it is your car. I personaly don't like seeing something represented as "A" when it is really "B". Think about the effect of selling it someday. Why not put on the L48 emblems (or leave them off) and have a "sleeper/stealth" car?

Maybe I should put some on my car ???
Do you think anyone would notice if it had L-48 on the hood and the centerbolt valve covers of the ZZ4 under the hood ??
I could probably put any emblem on the hood and no one would believe it for the noise coming out the tailpipes.......
This 1979 was painted in April of 2000. The colour is the original: code 59, Corvette light beige. The paint is DuPont Chroma Premier, base-coat, clear-coat. It is expensive ($720.00CDN, paint only) but as was stated in another thread, you get what you pay for. BTW, Maaco refused to deal with me as they did not wish to tie up shop time on a Corvette. I found a shop that had a Corvette enthusiast and a volume/non-volume shop schedule. He had the car for two weeks; about 60 hours of labour. The car was dull but basically unhit/unblemished. Some minor spider cracks around the door handles. With installation of all new weatherstripping and new door panels the job came out at $4,200CDN. That is about $2,700US. It is about 18 months later and I am still delighted with the outcome. Many compliments at cruise days.
On the stripes, the hood is modelled on the 1978 Pace Car, but less aggressive. I wanted a similar treatment on the curves of the fenders to highlight the design and "curviness." No, it is not stock but I got what I wanted :yesnod:. And for some Corvette owners that is important.
