I have an '81 that is having gauge problems and I'm going to replace the stock ones with Autometer gauges. Does anyone have a link to a wiring diagram of the 12-pin connector that plugs into the back of the gauge cluster? Thanks.
The Assembly Manual has the wiring diagram you are after. Someone might be able to scan the page and post it for you. I do not have the manual where I am at right now.
Thanks for the link but I couldn't get the instruction download to work. I am going to install the Ultra Lite gauges and really could use a diagram of that 12-pin connector.
FWIW...this site has been extremely informative. I'm no stranger to Corvettes as I own 2 1981s now. One is a drag car and my current project is going to be a daily cruiser.
Hey man, I literally just wired mine up tonight....(mine's a 79)....I used autometer designer black series gauges.....went with the same kind of gauges (oil press, water, volts, clock, fuel)
I figured the wires are almost 30 years old....so I went ahead and ran new wires for all of them....it took a little longer, but atleast I don't have to worry about them...(my engine compartment has also been caught on fire at one time too).....the only one I didn't run a new sender to was the fuel level....I ran out of wire at 11:30pm...so I just tapped into the stock....thank God that wire has never been on fire....atleast that i can tell....
just an idea....enjoy them and get some pics up when you're done!
