I feel like a retard now.

Looks great.

MELVIN, Even some of us that have followed your saga could use a complete review.. :) let's see..... first you bought an original engine L36, then you added the tripower manifold and carbs so it was more or less like the L68, then you rebuilt that engine, then you pulled out your rebuilt original L36 with tribpower and put in a brand new crate 502. And you took your tripower setup (and valve covers) that had been on the old engine and put them on the new engine.. Is all that right?? It also looks like you installed a smog pump (circa 1968...) on your new 502 crate engine!! Did you also use the original exhaust manifolds on the new engine? (with the air holes?). This is all pretty wild!! (I just noticed you are still using your GF432 fuel filter and fuel return line with the tripower setup... mixing your metaphors!! :) )

What inquiring minds REALLY want to know is, what is the SOTP feel of the new 502 vs your rebuilt tripowered L36? And when are you going to the dragstrip to get some hard data?? :) Looks great, and also very stock! MJ

First, thanks for the posting. Im fairly lazy when it comes to computer stuff...

Wow, man, some folks out there definitely have a memory. Yep, I started with restoring my 68/L36. By the way, I do all my own work, but i'll mention some great help I had on the way as I go on.....

Besides all the interior, paint, suspension work Ive done, Ill stick with the motor saga for now..

Rebuilt the L36. Wanted a tri power intake set up. Found one, but it was pretty shot, So 454TOM really helped me out on it. He knows his tri power stuff, and tore those things down, and taught me some of the ropes. I placed it on my L36, but kept the ext L36 gas filter, as I dont want to keep having to remove the fuel lines to the tri carbs just to replace the gas filters. Its easy to srtip out the fuel line inlet threads on these old carb bodies.

Then I rebuilt my L36. Again, 454 TOM helped me when I was "blinded by the trees"

Then I got a deal on a long block 502 that I couldnt pass up.

I first found the Corvette Forum back in 1997 or so when it Dobbs Forum. I about had a heart attack when it was closed down for a few months due to folks posting some stuff that wasnt suitable for all ages. But back then, there were still some great folks, with great attitudes, just as there are now.

Yep, I used all the AIR stuff, and original exh manifolds that was on my L36

There you have it!

Damn, I posted in sentence case....... :D

Sorry,
Hard to say, I havent got on it yet, So far, I havent reached the 500 mile break in yet. Ive been so busy, I havent really been on the road. This week though, the weather is supposed to be perfect, and ill be driving it to work.

I do notice a slightly different tone thru the chambered exh. Nice lopy idle, though not as noticable as my 427 was with a comp 270 cam.
