Default Front End Rise

I have just started driving my 70 BB car again after 15 years of storage.

One thing that I noticed, on hard acceleration, the nose of the car really rises dramatically. Memory is fuzzy here. Is the characteristic of these cars?

My factory shocks (GM replacements 15 years ago) have a lot of time on them but very little mileage.

Would a good set of shocks reduce the squat, front end lift situation? If so, what brand.

Thanks

Bob

The brand and type will depend on how serious you want it and how much you want to spend. I would run nothing less than KYB Gas, good stuff. More serious it Bilstein gas.

How's your rear spring? My 70 BB lifted quite a bit. Felt like the rear was actually squating. This was after new shocks and strut rods. When trying to adjust the ride hight, I noticed that I could not get the rear to increase no matter how much I adjusted the nut. I have 8" bolts.

I decided to replace the stock spring with a monoleaf #360. Ride height back and no more major lift when I gun it. I still get some lift, but it doesn't feel like the rear is squating anymore.

The rear spring has stock length bolts (6"+) and is sitting horizontal across the back of the car.

I don't believe that the shocks are gas, don't know if they offered them when I purchased years ago.

If I replace them, will go with the Bilsteins.

When I auto-xed the car years ago, I remember there being some front end rise. The springs are stock for an all iron BB and I have a lot of aluminum components on the engine now. (Heads, intake, water pump).

Also put 3:70 gears in the back so there is more multiplication/acceleration.

The car is not a daily driver so I can work with various components and see just what effects that front end lift most.
