Greetings, hope you all will indulge my non corvette question.
My wifes bmw 328i has a steering issue. I took it to the shop for check/test. They replaced the ball joints, flushed the power steering system & installed a power steering kit, whatever that means..., had the wheel/ tires balanced & checked for bent rims and aligned the front end.
Problem, same as before. The car pulls to either side depending on which direction the last tight turn was made. In other words, if you crank the steering wheel to near maximum left the car will pull to the left while trying to drive straight. If you turn to near maxium (or max.) right the car will then pull to the right. The steering assist feels fine & there is no shimmy or shake feedback in the steering wheel. It just pulls to what ever direction the last hard turn was made. Help?
Yeah, the alignment was done while at the shop. To clarify, it does not feel like poor tracking, it is a definite pull that you have to counter steer to drive straight. If I stop or slow enough to turn the wheel to near lock in the other direction, it pulls to that side, on the same pavement or even in the other lane testing for road crown comparison.
