My take on it - Don't get too excited. That super cold leaving coil temp will freeze the condensate to the coil and block all the air flow at some dewpoint. You might feel it getting colder and moist in the car just before the wind goes away.
Also, if you do have a leak, the refrigerant characteristics will change as it leaks out. That blended refrigerant is non-azeotropic so it has a lot of glide. That is a fancy way of saying that it will loose certain parts of the blend faster than the other parts of the blend when it leaks out. That causes the temp to vary and ultimately not work right at all. Then you can not just top it off, you have to evacuate it all out and replace it with all fresh refrigerant. Otherwise the blend percentage will be off. If you have a slow leak it might take a while.
It was about 75* outside. It was 80* a couple days earlier and it was still blowing 40-42*.
I hope during the summer it still blows at least 50*. I know this black vinyl is gonna be hot as hell this summer, we'll see if the ac system is worth anything or not. I just wanted my stock stuff to work just so I can say it does..

Mark, thats EXACTLY what my AC guy told me about the blended refrigerants. He also told me the broken down parts of the blend that stay in the system are acidic and can eat the oil and the air compressor itself from the inside out. LOL
I figure.... F' IT, I spent a total of $100 on my AC system to charge it, replace the blower with the C4 blower, make a spacer, use the right pigtail from a dealer.. If it lasts a summer and craps out...oh well. This thing hasn't had the ac working for 20yrs so I am pretty happy that its actually working at all right now. If it does leak out or start to leak(ie air getting warm) my AC guy will try to sniff out the leak with a leak detector and see if we can fix it, then evacuate/vacuum and recharge the system. It really just depends on the leak. Hopefully it lasts through the summer.
BTW I had another thermometer in there at the same time so I could compare the two and it was about 2*-3* warmer then the one in the pic. Not sure which one is right but... It read consistantly on both. I also used the one in the pic in my new F150 and it also reads 40*.
Also, if your engine is up to normal operating temps, then looks like your engine is running in a great temp range.
Yeah I was idling at a stop light about 2 miles from my house when I took that pic. Normally without the AC on, it runs a little under the middle line between 100 and 210, which I believe to be around 160*. Its got a 160* stat in it. It does run quite a bit warmer with the ac on if I idle for a while but it never hits 210*, even idling for 20-25 mins with the ac on. Now during the summer it will run even hotter and I will have to watch extended idling with the AC on.
