Are you talking about the S spring on the metal part or how the hog rings attach the cover to the seat. I just had my 72s apart andtook some pics. I'll see what I have for pics.
From the kit I am talking about the 30 or so clips that connect the edge of the leather (where the cardboard is sewn in for support) to the base of the seat.
Does this help. This is all I have of the lower seat. I actually have the S clips undone on these pictures. I just unclipped them and then took the picture.
Thanks I can't get that much leather arount the frame.
I bought new foam also and it is 2 inches bigger than my old foam.
When I try and pull it it starts to rip at the back corner where the frame ends and has a corner that is pointy.
HMMM..I think I will get the fat kid down the road to sit on it while I attach the clips.

When redoing my seats in my '72 I found using the original foam worked far superior to the new foam, which I returned....they make that new crap for show cars, they love that fat plump rounded look overstuffed foam gives, a trick to all this is using garbage bags cut open for liner between the cover and foam, this makes it all slide around so you can fit it up better/easier......
20 years ago an trim guy who did my '70 GTO/Lemans convertible showed me lotsa tricks to that stuff....
I used the original foam also and added a 1 inch thick piece of foam myself. Just gives it a little more cushion but not to bad to install. It definitly took some work but the seat is a little nicer to sit in.

EXACTLY!! Stand on it and pull, or lay 2"x4"s over it and clamp both ends to a table top to compress the foam doing one side at a time.
I stood on mine to compress...

Hey Gordon how did you pull the back corner without it ripping if you added an inch?
I think I will upgrade my membership so I can attach pictures to show you.
tristan69, clip the wider opening over the edge of the leather and do them all at once then roll the edge over and push the other thinner opening onto the edge of the seat frame. If you have trouble pushing it on you can use a rubber mallet.
By the way, when you put the clip on the leather, the thin loop should be away from you so that when you roll the edge it goes under the leather.
