Anyone have any instructions and/or pictures of how to ch eck a '76 frame for level? I want to get it as close as possible before I weld the roll cage in. I do have a laser level. Was thinking about hanging plumb strings from various points with increments marked on them and then running the laser level across them. What points should I use?
I'd suggest stopping by a local body shop that does frame repair (lots of hot rod guys in body shops) tell them you're building a cage, and would like a copy of the frame measurements from their frame machine.
It'll tell you where to measure from. And with some luck, also the dimensions to look for.
The best way would be to clamp the frame in a jig- some 2x3 tube tacked together, square the frame on that, weld up the cage and go.
Yeah, I'm not willing to take the entire car apart though. Going to have to find an easier way. I'll try the body shop suggestion and see what happens.
