Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (drives61)
I think forever is about right. My 4 year old daughter wants to drive it when she gets bigger. May have to buy her say a used 2001 by then. You know, safer with airbags, ABS, traction control. :jester
Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (drives61)
My '76 has only been in one family....mine. I don't think I could live with myself if I ever got rid of her, the mere thought of someone else abusing her makes me cringe. It's not the fastest thing (although she will be faster come spring time), but there are just too many memories with the car. Till death do we part
Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (bence13_33)
I'd love to keep mine forever. But I'm only 21 and I still have a lot of years in front of me. There's no telling what will happen to me. But as long as I can keep the car I'm going to.
Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (Golden80)
Matt,
I got my Vette when I was 23 and still have it. It is no longer a daily driver but our daughter now wants it. I am 45 and she is 8. Forever and likely then some.
Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (drives61)
I have always looked at getting a Vette somewhat like adoption. They are your children. You don't buy one, you adopt it. And since it is illegal to sell children they are yours forever.
I just need more garage space so I can adopt more. :)
Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (drives61)
I've had it 21 years. No need to start thinking about anything else. If I had $50,000 lying around (which I don't) I'd buy a C5 but I'd still keep my C3.
Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (drives61)
I took a moment from my honey-do and just read an artical in Feb '01 "Vette." A girl had bought a '61 used as a teen in 1967 and sold it to the third owner in '97. Thats about 36 years.

Hi
Voted for the forever poll, because thats what it will take to get it 100 %
my way. So much I like to do on it, if I just had the cash and time. :mad
On top of this, my 3 sons already fight about whos getting it. :D
Gess, I have to buy 2 more. :jester
Just don't know what the wife says about that idea as she has problems to understand why I prefer a 30 year old car, my 68 big block convertible, instead of a nice super smooth modern old man car, like a Mercedes. :nopity
Having fun, even that the bad weather ( winter ) is returning. :mad

One thing I was thinking of is people who say they'd be buried in their cars. I remember that guy from quite a few years back that was buried in his Corvette. My only thing is that I think that when you've past on you should let others enjoy the feeling of driving an awesome car like it. I'll be modifying mine which will make it more difficult to sell but will make the car "mine."
Re: How long do you intend to keep your C3? (drives61)
I have had my 1979 for 15 years and I really enjoy it. I have supported the various Corvette vendors for many years. However, I am looking for a 1992 or so triple-white convertible. So, after five months of winter storage it may be for sale in the spring. I have some time to make that difficult decision. These cars do get into your soul.
