Standard rim for a '68 is 15"x7"...'69-'82 was 15"x8". They will fit the same, but the 7" is only correct for '68.
As far as 17"x8"...I'm not sure but a lot depends on the offset and whether it clears the body and frame on turns. That may be a wheel design by wheel design thing whether it fits without issue. Lots of people have mounted and run 17" wheels so some do work.
