Default 1971 LT-1 Intake bolts ?

Hi guys,
I think Bubba got at my 71 LT-1.
Could someone tell me if there aluminum LT-1 intake has washers under the bolts holding the intake down?
Some of the center intake mounting bolts on mine does not have washers and the bolts scratched the intake.
If there is washers, are they a machine type or just ordinary flat washers?
I would appreciate some pictures so I could see what the original intake looked like bolted on.
Thanks
JH

AS I recall, GM used SAE flat washers. Just enough the bolts wouldn't eat the aluminum. Outer diameter just barely bigger than the bolt head.

No, bolts have shouldered head, kinda like a build in washer. definately no washers! Should on bolt is round like washer. This is per ncrs as well as catalogs. NOTE: this applies to aluminum intakes only!! Which a LT-1 is as you know.
I meant to say shoulder on bolt, sorry

The factory did not use washers under aluminum intake bolts on these cars. Many people use thin washers under them in service.

Generaly speaking and splitting hairs here, If the fastener has the round slightly raised area under the head it is a "Capscrew". if it does not have the raised area under the head it is just a "Bolt".

I work in the aircraft industry and what you discribe is right. Also bolts that have threads only part way up the shaft are for strucural use and bolts that have threads all the way up are nonstrucural use.and capscerws can be this way also. all my 70-71 Z/28's did not have the washers. One of the 70's was brand new (no washers)But people used them for the purpose discribed above.I did but you need a THIN washer and in the same diamiter as your capscrew. If the washer is thin enough you can still get the same TQ setting.

Thanks guys,
That cleared-up the question I had. I took a look at Paragons intake bolts and I understand now.
I was going to add some washers but I think I will leave well enough alone.
