Default Replaceing rear rotor?

Hi All I have a pulsation on brake apply on my 77 comeing from the rear.
The left rear rotor is scored and needs replacement. How difficult is a
rear rotor to replace? Any step by step instructions?
Thanks

iirc all it takes is drilling out the rivets that hold the rotor in place, its a real pain, all the other stuff like the caliper should be pretty obvious once youve taken the wheel off, good luck with your project, maybe some other forum member can offer better or more directions on what to do.

Remove the caliper, drill out the rivets if they're still holding the rotor to the spindle, remove the rotor, replace rotor, install the caliper... lining up the rotor parking brake adjustment hole with the same hole in the spindle.

If the rotor is stuck to the spindle, re-attach the tire/wheel, loosen the lug nuts a few turns, lower the car onto the ground and rock the car sideways to break the rust.

The rotors and spindles are machined as a (riveted) assembly by GM to minimize rotor runout. Runout causes air to enter the system giving a mushy pedal and poor brake performance.

The parking brake is inside the rear rotor.
If it hangs up the rotor, you have to release it.

Besides the cable attachment, there is a star adjuster inside the rotor which may have to be turned to loosen the parking brake shoes.

check the runout or you'll be doing it again. Get it under .002 and you'll be ok. Be sure to dress the holes where the rivets were on the flange as there will be raised metal there.

Those rivots are a PIA, I didn't have a drill press nor the inclination to try it with a hand drill...so I used a large chisel and a BFH, pops the heads right off the rivots, didn't take that long at all.

Only 2x 5/8" bolts to remove caliper Torque is 70ft/lbs when re-installing the caliper mounting bolts.
