I put in a NEW emergency brake kit from ecklers last year, but I think that the cable is TOO LONG ..... When I installed it, I had to go down from the lever to the pulley, but because of the length, I put it CLOSER to the rear and AROUND the pulley then to the L-R emergency brake cable.
In any case..... for you brake specialists .... it isn't working ..... did I get the WRONG cable or am I just an idiot (which has been flinged my way, througout my life)
The hair stands up on the back of my neck every time I think about the E-Brake install I did with a mechanical friend of mine.
On each side of the car there is a small "hook shaped" doamahickey, make sure the cable is still running through those on BOTH sides. Also, I hope when you re-installed you had the adjustment all the way IN so that you could simply wrench more tension in the cable. After just a few uses of mine it had stretched to the point of having to retighten.
Then there was that horrific incident whereby the spring came undone inside my e-brake assembly.
If you get more specific I can probably help a bit...........best of luck to you.
I installed the same kit and probably had as much fun as TortureTest, but it would be mighty odd if the cable is too long. Here's a site I followed along with to make sure I did it all right. You should be able to tighten that cable down where it connects to the rear cable guide down and still have some room leftover. http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2005...brake-lead.asp
