Replaced the brake booster on a 1970 corvette. Got the booster from Last Detail. Two issues.
First the pedal is lower to the floor, so that the brake lights don't go off. I cant adjust the brake light switch any further down. Has anyone dealt with this?
Second issue. the studs are in metric, the nuts are metric, and are too wide. The upper left nut hits the steering column bracket and can't be tightened. I guess I need to find a skinnier nut.
May be a couple of months too late, but I just read the question on the brake pedal being lower after booster replacement. After replacing the power brake booster, I had the same problem with the switch not having enough adjustment. I found that the switch is held by a bracket. The bracket is held on by two screws at the top of the bracket. One of the screw holes is slotted and allows the bracket to move enough for proper adjustment of the switch.
Hope I understood your question and that this helps.
Smokin Joe ..... did you ever get the pedal height fixed? I have the same problem on my '78. When I compared the old booster to the new one, there is a difference in the length of the rod with the clevis. I took both back to Advanced Auto, and they said it was the correct booster, and if they ordered me another, it would be the same. My pedal goes to the floor. I believe I will make a longer clevis to solve this, unless someone has come up with another solution. To bad there isn't more yhan 2 threads on the rod (no adjustment).

I went from manual to power brakes and had the same problems. My booster rod had adjustment but was too short. Pedal was too close to the floor even when clevis was adjusted to the end of the rod. To scarey for me. I had a longer clevis fabricated for me. Solved my problems, pedal is higher and brake lights work.
i had the same problem with the metric nuts. the thickness of the socket wrench wouldn't fit next to the bracket. got some automotive type nuts (the kind with the washer "attached" to the nut). for some unknown reason, the heads on these nuts are smaller. i ground off some of the "washer" and after several coarse words, was able to mount the booster.

As if replacing the power brake booster was not already difficult enough in getting to those 4 bolts under the dash!
Does any vendor currently sell a correct fitting C3 power booster?
www.mbmbrakeboosters.com/. The mounting studs were a little larger diameter but everything fit fine. I bought mine from Davies Corvette Supply but a number of other vendors sell them as well. No installation problems other than the PITA replacing a booster is. MBM sells the booster alone or in a matched kit with a new Master cylinder.
