I have had a 74 Vette coupe since 1975. It has 28,000 miles on it, all original with gymkana suspension. The rear spring is shot and I need to replace it. Does gymkana suspension require a heay duty rear spring? Help.
You've got a 7-leaf steel spring. Vette Brakes will give you a replacement for $109. Or you could upgrade to a composite monoleaf spring, $309 for the 330-lb/in unit, which is a good equivalent substitute for the 7-leaf Gymkhana spring.
Or.... starting with the "Restoration Store" button at the top of this page you could click your way thru 1. suspension and drivetrain, 2. 63-82, 3. rear suspension 4. rear springs, and finally 5. 63-75 spring 7 leave HD:
Note: Please check width of original spring, 63-77 models are 2 1/4 wide, 78-82 models are 2 1/2 wide."

Oh, you were talking about Paul Borowski from Massillon. I live here too. I also have a 74 coupe, but mine is a red 4-speed; his is an orange auto. Small world.
Thats funny, My Millie Migillia Red 74 is all orig., and has the gymkhana and it needs a new rear spring!!!! I don't know what kind of spring to use either.
If u find out anything post it for me! :chevy
