Default T200 Tranny Swap

Is the T200 trans swap a true "bolt-in" swap??? Doesn't the T200 have any electrical connections? What parts or modifications are really required. What about the torque converter, does it need to be changed from my Turbo 350? I have the opportunity to purchase a rebuilt one from a friend for $300. Seriously thinking about it for my 76!!!

If I remember correctly the ST-200 was a BOP version of the powerglide. Are you referring to a TH200R4, if so I'd have to say I would rather get a 700R4, it's heavier duty.

I hope you don't really mean a THM200. That was a POS tranny! Doesn't even make for a good boat anchor.

The THM200-4R, on the other hand, was an excellent unit. They held up very well in SS Monte Carlos, Turbo Buicks, etc.

I'm not sure it is a better choice than swapping in a 700R4, though.

Mike, if I read my vette id book correctly the L-48 came with the TH350 and your L-82 came with the TH400. If that is the case, your swap would be easy.You won't have to change or modify your trans mount. You will have to change to a TH350 driveshaft yoke using a conversion u-joint from your local parts store. You will also have to hook up the TV cable. You have to use the TH200r4 torque converter, and you will have to at least hook up a power supply with a toggle switch to opperate your lockup converter. Hershey :cheers:
