Default short throw m-21

does anyone know whether shifter linkage on the m-21 (i have a 68) was attched onthe long (bottom) or short (top) arms. i was thinking of switching to the shorter throw, anyone ever use this and have any comments on how it shifts? thanks, john

Your shifter should have been installed in the long throw position. This can be changed fairly easily. The procedure for this, including adjusting the shift levers, is in the 68 GM Service Manual. I recall seeing it there and it appears to be a simple task.

Gary
ps, no experience with this.

My 71' has them in the short throw holes, but the AIM shows them in the long throw holes. Short throw works great

I changed mine on my 68 M-20 from longer throw to short throw. It is pretty simple: You just change the holes, but due to geometry you also have to adjust the position of the things that go into the holes. Very simple. The first impression is awesome; it feels like going from a truck to a sports car. But (there is always a but) my trans is getting hard to shift and geometry also tells you that with a shorter lever more force is required to move it. I say, "try it, you'll (probably) like it."
