At some point the car had been hit in the rear left & repaired with some questionable work. There was a big hole that had been filled with resin and no fiberglass. I decided to cut out the section & fit a new piece in from another car. After much searching I was able to get a piece from another forum member.
The original repair
That bondo is about 1/2" thick
Chunks of resin & tape
The new piece
I cut some of the excess from the new piece & made some bonding strips & glued them on first
Then trimmed the piece to fit & glued in place
Now I just need to glass in the seams. Turns out that not all cars are identical though. I needed to reshape the new piece a little with the heat gun & some clamps to get it to fit correctly. It's hard to see but the one corner was up about 1/8" . Also the radius of the rear edge isn't exactly the same. Thats for the body shop to fix.
