The right-front wiper door shoulder bolt thread on my '69 wiper door assembly is stripped out and I need to heli-coil OR have it welded and re-threaded.
What has me confused is that all of the corvette parts catalogs list one size for the wiper door shoulder bolts; the two rear bolts on my assembly are definitely larger (not just longer) than the front two shoulder bolts. Perhaps somebody replaced the rear two shoulder bolts after they stripped out?
Is this normal/OEM to have two shoulder bolt sizes on the 69 wiper door?
My understanding is that rather than helicoils and insert is put into a larger hole on the wiper door. I think that a brass insert which whill have the same threads as the normal shoulder bolts is available at Sears hardware or in the specialty boxes of hardware at most local stores. These inserts are also good for the quarter panel trim retainers.
Nope. All 4 are the same size. Proper fix is heli-coil.
I took a closer look at the two rear shoulder bolts and found they aren't shoulder bolts at all... some Bubba took two larger bolts, put short lengths of small rubber hose on their shank and voila... shoulder bolts one size larger Looks like I'm gonna have to consider heli coiling all four corners; the two holes where some bubba up-sized them, the one stripped out and may as well do the one that remains... Lots a fun. Gonna go looking for the proper-size heli coils today.

Good point. I'll search for one. Looks like I'll need to find one with 10-24 threads according to specifications I found in the Paragon catalog.
