lock aren't working on the 82, checked the switches, actuactors, continuity of wires, cleaned and put dielectric grease on terminals. All good. The pass. side switch plug has been taken apart to resolder the terminals. Not the switch, but the wiring harness end. I think the wires may not be in the correct spots. I have seen the scematic from the 82 service manual but can't understand what terminal goes where. This is what I have looking at the plug after you remove it from the switch, the holes on the left and 2 on RT. Drivers side, top left hole orange, middle left grey, bottom left blue, top right black, middle right tan, no bottom right hole. Pass. side : top left orange, middle left blue, bottom left black, both right holes black. Does this sound correct, specially for the pass side ?
another forum member posted this to the site
back in the fall
the top ones are original and the bottom are the new wiring harness
that they sell
also i have read on the forum here that if one side doesnt work that other side wont either so if you have poorly soldered wires or if they are incorrectly hooked up that may be your whole problem.
Thanks, that shows that my wires are hooked correctly, now what? I'm lost. Good actuators, wires, wires from side to side. Maybe one of the switches is going bad althought I thought they tested good. Any thoughts ?
Have you gone into the door. Check for current with a meter at the motors. Terminals in there may be corroded. All my connections in the door needed to be cleaned, power locks, windows.
Good luck.

I just went through this drill on my 78 and I take that 78-82 are all alike. I started at my actuator and tested the wires on the "driver's"
side which controls both sides. It both wires tested ok so I moved to the switch testing all leads...and found that one lead was not sending the same load as the others. Replaced the switch and all is fine.
So I'm suggesting next steps should be to test all leads coming from the switch. Insert tester than press the switch and tester should light up. If that works, than move to driver's switch but than that one may already be working. The driver's side tho has wires that can be traced back to the passenger side (gray and brown).
went through the same thing on my 79, found that the passenger side switch wasnt working correctly, bought a new switch at orielly auto,
$15, they have them at autozone also. they're made by dorman, packaged as HELP products. both switches must work correctly for the ground to work. good luck
