I'm gonna be using a pair of Mitsubishi Eclipse trunk lid hinges for my hood hinges. They articulate several inches, and have a very similar over all closed thickness and a bolt pattern that's adaptable.
So you saying the would put the front of the hood UP and forward about 5" or so when raised?? interesting....
you actually have a pair?? from what series of car??
what years....they made that model for decades, I think..?
A 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Convertible.
The vert is key since it has a flat trunk lid with a pair of articulating hinges with hydraulic struts. I found mine on Ebay but any local salvage yard should have them too.
C5 hinges are a good example of this. However, I think you will find that it is easier to make your own 4 bar lift (articulated hinge) than to adapt another hinge. I intend to put an air bridge in my car and have designed a lift out hinge but don't recommend it. A 4 bar hinged, lift out hood will also require a gas spring assist or it will lockup. This is difficult to explain but the gas spring has to almost go over center when the hood is closed so that the extension force of the spring is countered by the hinge itself instead of the hood (but still supply a small lifting force). All in all, probably not worth the time and expense.
